Boards, Committees, and Commissions

Cornelius City Council
Consists of the Mayor and four Councilors elected by citizens of Cornelius. 

Meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers located at 1355 N. Barlow St., Cornelius, OR 97113.

Budget Committee

Consists of the Cornelius City Council and five Cornelius citizens appointed by the Mayor and Council for 3 year terms. Serves as the fiscal planning board for the City of Cornelius. The Committee reviews the proposed budget rendered by City Staff. The committee may approve the proposed budget intact, or request to change a part or all of it prior to final approval. After review and eventual decision by the Budget Committee the budget is forwarded to the City Council for formal adoption prior to June 30th of each year.

Meetings are held as needed during the budgeting process in the Council Chambers located at 1355 N. Barlow St., Cornelius, OR 97113.

Economic Development Commission
Consists of eleven members appointed by the Mayor and Council for 3-year terms. Advises the City Council on matters related to economic development, business relationships, and strategic economic planning.

Meetings are held as needed throughout the year.

Library Advisory Board
Consists of up to eleven members appointed by the Mayor and Council for 3-year terms. Advises the Library Director on services, planning, and policies. 

Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Library at 1370 N. Adair St., Cornelius, OR 97113.

Planning Commission 
Consists of seven members appointed by the Mayor and Council for 4-year terms. Plays an integral role in the growth issues of the City by:

• assisting the City Council in developing, maintaining, updating and implementing the City Comprehensive Plan,
• developing code provisions, and
• reviewing and acting on development projects. 

Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers located at 1355 N. Barlow St., Cornelius, OR 97113.

Police Advisory Board   (PAB) 
Consists of up to eleven members appointed by the Mayor and Council. Advises the Chief of Police on issues concerning public safety and police services within the City.

Public Infrastructure Advisory Board (PIAB)
Consists of nine members appointed by the Mayor and Council for 3-year terms. Reviews matters in the public works service area and may also be requested to advise the City Council on utility rate analysis and recommendations on the budgets for operation and capital improvements. Advises the City Council regarding matters in the parks and recreation service area, including parks and trails planning, acquisition, construction and maintenance, grants acquisition, volunteer coordination, and improvements.

Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm at 1300 S. Kodiak Cir, Cornelius, OR 97113.

Youth Advisory Council (YAC)

Consists of up to twenty students from local high schools that are in and near Cornelius, members must be a Cornelius resident.  Students shall be equivalent to grades from 9-12  during their appointed terms of service. The YAC provides youth in Cornelius an opportunity to become involved in city government.
