Records Division
The Cornelius Police Department Records division is handled through the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. This includes releases for impounded vehicles. Police report requests are available through the sheriff’s office during their normal business hours. For a fee schedule and copy of a Report Request form please click on link at bottom of the page. Tow releases are available 24 hours a day at the same location. Refer to the back of the impound sheet for more information.
- NOTE: if an investigation or court action of the case is in progress the report is not releasable until the case is closed /completed. Contact the Records Unit at 503-846-2524 during business hours to verify that the report you are requesting a copy of is available for release at this time.
- If report is available complete the request form and mail it, along with a money order or certified check and self-addressed stamped envelope to: 215 SW Adams, Hillsboro, OR, 97123; to pay by credit card or cash bring the completed form to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office during normal business hours.

CRASH REPORTS AND REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:
Oregon Accident and Insurance Reports may be obtained at any law enforcement agency, motor vehicles office, or downloaded online. Only drivers involved in an accident resulting in any of the following MUST file an Accident and Insurance Report:
·Damage to your vehicle is over $1,500
·Damage to any one person's property over $1,500
·Any vehicle involved in an accident and is towed from the scene as a result of damages
·Injury (No matter how minor)
·Death
Oregon Law requires these reports be filed within 72 hours of the accident excluding holidays and weekends. If you are unable to file within the 72 hours submit it as soon as possible. If you fail to report the accident to DMV it may result in suspension of your driving privileges.
If the police department files a police report, you are required to file your own Accident and Insurance Report with DMV.
If you are an out-of-state resident, you are required to file your own Accident Report with DMV.
