About the Library
Cornelius Public Library is distinguished by it's friendly neighborhood feel and welcoming staff. We are a member of Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS). WCCLS provides systems that connect all the libraries in Washington county, including the database of books and patrons, digital resources, homebound services, and a daily courier. WCCLS currently allocates $589,000 to the Cornelius Library (47%). The remainder of necessary funds comes from the Cornelius City General Fund at 48%, and grants and fees at 5%.
The current Library building opened in 2019, after $5.7 million was raised locally from national and state grants, foundations, and donors. It encompasses 13,650 sq.ft. on the first floor of a three-story building that boasts 45 affordable senior apartments above.
The library boasts the largest collection of Spanish language books at any one library location in Oregon. The library has a large children's area, 18 public computers (including 1 Mac), a 100-person public meeting room, four quiet study rooms/work spaces, a Teen Zone and cafe.
