CDBG Detour Map N Davis Street

The City of Cornelius is planning a sidewalk improvement project to add sidewalks in select neighborhoods.  Maps of the approximate locations of these improvements are below.  For this project, underground utility locates will be painted on the ground within the survey limits.  A survey crew will be present to complete a topographic and boundary survey within each area.

February 23, 2024 - PROJECT UPDATE

The City of Cornelius has contracted with Pacific Excavation, Inc. for the Cornelius CDBG Sidewalk Project.  Construction is scheduled to begin late February 2024 and be completed May 2024.  The schedule is subject to change due to weather delays, equipment issues, and franchise utility re-locations.

The initial steps of construction include the placement of wooden survey stakes to delineate boundaries and indicate the location of new structures, such as the sidewalks, curbs, and catch basins.  Please do not move or damage the survey stakes.  The contractor depends on these stakes to properly build the street improvements.

The project includes converting the 12th Avenue and Dogwood Street intersection from a two-way stop to an all-way stop controlled raised intersection.  The intersection will be closed to traffic during the construction of the raised intersection.  Below is the detour plan for this closure.  The closure of the intersection allows for safe, cost effective, and time efficient construction of the improvements.  The City anticipates the intersection will remain closed for at least 8 weeks.
