Cornelius Rural Fire Protection District
The Cornelius Rural Fire Protection District surrounds the City of Cornelius, and makes up the majority of our 41 square mile service area. Fire services in the rural area were provided as a subscription service until 1946 when the Cornelius Rural Fire Protection District was formed. Since then, the "district" has contracted with the City of Cornelius for fire protection services. All rural residents receive first response fire and medical services from the fire station located in Cornelius.
